Karin Miofsky, Lakeland’s assistant professor of criminal justice, recently attended the Law Enforcement Explorer Conference, hosted by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Explorer Advisor Association.
The event, which took place at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, featured 150 high school students from Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois who are interested in majoring in criminal justice and an eventual career in law enforcement. The students participated in competitions related to arrest and search, first aid, bomb threat, shoot or don’t shoot scenarios and officer down scenarios.
Lakeland was one of just three institutions invited to represent their criminal justice programs at the conference. Northern Michigan University and Marian University were the others. Miofsky had the opportunity to speak with many students about Lakeland and the college’s CJ program.
“I always enjoy meeting with prospective students and talking to them about the many exciting aspects of our criminal justice program,” Miofsky said.
