Lakeland College student Malcolm Blakley capped a well-received first semester of the new Coffee House series on Thursday with a soulful performance on saxophone at the 1862 Lounge.
Blakley played a nice variety of pieces, including the Dave Brubeck classic “Take Five” and Herbie Hancock’s “Cantaloupe Island.”
Blakley closed his show by inviting fellow Lakeland student and talented singer Joshua Guy to join him on stage. The two collaborated on a Christian hymn and then “My Girl” by the Temptations.
Lakeland’s Coffee House series was well-attended by members of the college’s community this semester, as students Jacob Nault (piano and vocals), Melissa Landgraf (flute) and Blakeley showcased their talents.
