Find The Good

AJ Zickuhr logoRecently I've been finding myself in sort of a rut ... struggling to figure out what I want to do with my life, and why I haven't been feeling as happy as I want to be. It can be hard trying to act like you have it all together. I'm one of those people who hates acting like I need help, or that life isn't all sunshine and rainbows. I like being there for other people and coming across as pretty "stable" (for lack of a better word).

Going to a small school in Wisconsin is the best thing I have ever done, but sometimes that rut can get monotonous. For example, it's almost December, it’s cold and often gloomy out. Being the warm-weather, summer-loving girl that I am, I am honestly craving some above-50-degree weather. When you add in the ALL the school work, papers, projects, work-work and other commitments like sports, can really add up.

Feeling like I'm barely holding my life together is hard. I could go on and on about all my problems and reasons for my stress, but honestly, that is just a waste of time.

Yes, I'm stressed, but one thing I've learned over the years is that sometimes that rut that you're in is a good thing. Sometimes it's not all bad. Instead of letting the frustrations of life consume me, I've made it a mission to find good things in each day and find happiness the most stressful of days.

A few months ago, I made a list of things to help me "live my best life." It was a time in my life where nothing was going right, and I felt overwhelmed with the things on my to-do list. I decided I wanted to give myself a break and made a list of the super little things I could do each day simply because I could. Why not enjoy the little things?

Once I realized it was okay to not be completely okay, my life changed for the better. Because it IS okay to not have it all together, it's okay to not know your whole life plan, and it's okay to not be totally happy with your life. But, it's up to you to decide what you're going to do about it.

Every day might not be good, but there is good in every day. It's up to you to find it!
