Lakeland students help distribute Girl Scout Cookies

Thanks in part to 12 committed Lakeland College students, Girl Scout Cookies are being distributed to customers all over Sheboygan this week.

Eight members of the Pi Kappa Gamma sorority and four Lakeland volleyball players braved frigid conditions for more than two hours last week to help distribute more than 50,000 boxes of the famous cookies to the girls and their families.

“We couldn’t have done it without them,” said Sheboygan Girl Scout Community Cookie Manager Rachael Brashaw of the Lakeland women. “It was so very reassuring when I learned they were willing to help, because up until that point, I didn’t have enough volunteers, and I wasn’t sure where to turn. It was wonderful knowing I could count on them, and they did a great job.”

The Pi Kapps who stepped up to help were: Afton Barrows, Brianna Buzzell, Brianne Frank, Karen Hjelle, Summer Larzelere, Jessica Luecke, Kelsey Raasch and Natasha Robinson. And the volleyball players who joined the effort were: Courtney Naser, Taylor Levitt, Adrienne Guarnieri and Emilie Schartner.

After the mass Girl Scout Cookie distribution concluded, Brashaw sent out an email to everyone who helped make this daunting task a success.

“A special thank you to the Lakeland College Pi Kappa Gamma women and the women's volleyball team who helped us out tonight,” Brashaw wrote. “We appreciate your help and commitment.”
